I’m happy to announce that the FCIP’s first of 6 projects for the year has almost been completed, and is now live. I think there are a few last details to tidy up, but take a look, and let me know what you think.
The FCIP Group is composed of a diverse group of business professionals who donate their time and resources to a variety of non-profit charitable programs, and initiatives in the spirit of community. We accept applications from organizations in need on an ongoing basis, but make all project decisions for the calendar year in November. We are focused on offering organizations the best possible Internet presence as a tool to communicate with their stakeholders – the people who depend on their services.
This first project completed is FIDS.bc.ca – The Federation for Invisible Disabilities. It was put together by the design firm Catapult. It’s their first project for FCIP, and I think they did a great job.
This year, FCIP had about 100 applications from not for profit organizations. One of the projects we’ve taken on is the Mozambique Mentorship Program – “MozLink” – which we were approached about by USAID, as part of a Global Development Alliance. Other projects this year include; Girls for the Cure, Lupus Canada, The Down’s Syndrome Society, Independent Living Housing Society, and The Association for the Benefit of Children with Disabilities. This is the first year we’ve been able to recruit additional web design firms to aid in the project.
We would like to continue to grow, to mix local community programs with regional, national, and international programs. We are keenly interested in helping out at home, and abroad. We do all of it completely volontarily. We have tended to favor programs helping children. Although this has not been by design, we believe that getting it right for the next generation will serve us all best. The youth of today are tomorrow’s leaders – let’s help them, and set the right examples for them.
We’re not sure how many projects we’re going to do next year. We would like to do more, but need more design firms to participate.

Right now, projects we reach are provided with a new web site, some Internet Marketing, hosting, and any other services we can pull together which they require.
It’s a wonderful feeling to contribute to something to a project like this. I have some wonderful success stories which I’m starting to share with people. It makes me proud to know we’ve helped people in some positive way.
