New Meta Search Engine Launches

There’s another new kid on the block in the realm of metasearch. It’s called Seekz, and it went live sometime this week.

Seekz is a university project, still in the early stages of development, although at this point it is fully accessible to the public. From what I’ve gathered, it searches 15 engines simultaneously to provide its results. I’m not sure which engines these are, I’ll have to do some more digging.

Seekz claims it does not provide results from engines that use PPC (pay per click), in order to keep results as relevant as possible. All results are merged into one pile, and duplicates are removed. Relevance is determined by the greatest amount of engines a result appears in. So, if one result appears across four engines and another across three, the result with the greater number will appear higher on the search engine results page (SERP).

Another site following in the path of Google, Seekz provides a very clean, simple interface which will appeal to searchers. It might still suffer from kinks and bugs since it’s currently in alpha.
