Scientigo Inc. has released a new search engine called find.com. Currently still in beta, find.com promises to deliver quicker, more accurate results than the competition.

At this point find.com offers two methods of search, Mobile and Web. Mobile search requires a cell phone number and operator selection before it will return results.

Utilizing Scientigo’s patented ‘Topification’ technology, find.com claims to perform a linguistic analysis on search terms to better understand what users are searching for, while analyzing find’s ’semantic database.’ Scientigo also claims that find.com learns from a user’s past search behavior in order to provide more accurate results for that user over time.

Although Scientigo states find.com is not another clustering engine, it seems to operate in a similar manner. For instance, after a query is entered and results are returned, a topics section is displayed to the right of the screen, which breaks the initial search term into a number of categories. Users can click on these various topics to help refine a search. I’m a bamboo freak so I decided to do a search on ‘golden bamboo.’ Under the topics section there are a wide range of specific categories relating to golden bamboo, such as Council Invasive Plant Manual, Fishpole Bamboo, Golden Bamboo II Poster, Bamboo Flooring, etc.

Google will replace oil company Burlington Resources Inc. on the index. Burlington Resources Inc. is in the process of being acquired by another company.

From Bloomberg.com: “Google is the biggest company ever added to the S&P 500, according to Nicholas Gulden, an analyst at Citigroup Inc. in New York. The stock will become the highest-priced among the index’s members, surpassing Goldman Sachs Group Inc., whose shares closed today at $151.67.”

Search engine referrals are looking pretty lopsided over in Britain. And who do you think holds the royal share of the market? Alright a silly question; the answer is in the title. Well, at least according to marketing analyst WebSideStory.

WebSideStory performed a worldwide analytics study over the month of February, 2006. It used its own HBX Analytics technology to obtain results. The conclusion is that nearly three out of four users in the UK prefer using Google over its competitors. More specifically, WebSideStory measured Google’s referral percentage at 74.67 percent.

So where’s the competition? It’s almost non-existent. Here are the top five search engines under Google.

Yahoo – 9.3 percent
MSN – 5.46 percent
AOL – 4.21 percent
Ask Jeeves – 2.28 percent

Wow, those are pretty low figures, although the order is pretty much the same as North America.

Meanwhile, Google US had a referral percentage of 55.39, while the global average was pegged at 62.4 percent.

Bigdaddy, which we talked about a short time back, is in the final stages of implementation across all Google data centers. According to Matt Cutts there are only a couple of data centers left to make the switch. Matt feels this will happen within 1-2 weeks.
