Researchers Mark Meiss and Filippo Menczer, from the Indiana University School of Informatics, have created a web tool that analyses and displays the differences between Google portals in various countries. The website, aptly titled Censearchip, compares Google search results between China, France, Germany and the United States.
The project was largely influenced by the rigmarole surrounding the Google portal in China, which has to abide by strict Chinese censorship laws in order to function. Users can select two countries, then enter in the keywords or phrases they wish to compare. Tag clouds from each are then displayed at the bottom of the screen, highlighting usage frequency between the different engines.
