New Shopping Search

Online shoppers now have access to a new search engine called Mpire. But instead of comparing new products, this engine combs online auctions and classified ad sites, listing and comparing used items.

Mpire claims to retrieve used product information from over 20 million sites, some of which include eBay, Yahoo, Overstock.com and Craigslist, and has an established partnership with eBay to power its Collector’s Corner. It displays a shopping tag cloud showing the most sought after items, and shows price averages for used products over the last 30 days, so shoppers know if they’re getting a deal or not. Alerts can be set up to email shoppers when prices drop or when new selections become available, and sellers can list items for free or pay a fee for optimal service.

Mpire is based out of Seattle Washington. Thanks blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com for the heads up.
