Today, I came across Microsoft Cleartype. What an improvement it makes; I definitely recommend it to anyone using an LCD.
Here’s the oddity – I only came across it because I was randomly surfing through bookmarks, and happened to visit SEO Black Hat. We don’t use any Black Hat methods in our optimization strategies, but we do keep up on what’s going on. Ignorance is not bliss. I flipped through the last couple of weeks worth of postings, and there it was.
The author of the post who turned me onto Cleartype made a very good comment. Cleartype has been out for more than a year (!) If it had been release by Google, Firefox, or Apple, it would have been widely covered, and “newsworthy.” But because it came from MSFT, it gets buried. That’s just not right.
I don’t believe that using the tool will positively or negatively affect your site’s search engine performance in any way.
Actually, most of QuadsZilla’s readers would probably love one of the features in the Enquisite tool. (plus a whole bunch of the features which are soon to be released). No, Enquisite’s not a Black Hat tool. But imagine being able to track independent changes in various search engine algorithms and performances better, and more precisely. That’s a tool everyone can use.
