Funny & good quotes from Gnomedex 6.0 which stood out for me - I’m sure there were more; I just missed sessions.

“That’s a bad opinion to have” followed by “take his microphone away” - Michael Arrington

“Most people don’t want to put both their balls in one vise.” - Marc Cantor, on Apple & iTunes hmmm… does he think two vises are better? ouch!

“I’m a third generation red diaper baby” - Marc Canter explaining to Sen. John Edwards where his political position lies, prior to asking the Senator a question. It seems like every time Marc Canter opens his mouth a memorable quote emerges.

“closed is really the opposite of open, isn’t it?” - Mark Canter

“Bin Laden is using the Internet to issue his latest terrorist death threats, and the government is worried about people uploading and sharing music. What’s wrong with this picture?”- Dave Dederer from “The Presidents of the United States” on the government regulating the Internet.

“We need to step away from our computers and look at the rest of the world to see what they’re doing” - Jeremy Zawodny

“Geeks shouldn’t name things.” - Kathy Gill

Flipped back and forth between the main room, and the World Cup room. Both the games, and the conference have been great!

Blake Ross from Firefox is on the stage now. I’m picking up some good ideas for when Enquisite goes live on August 1. I was kind of pissed to push it back, as so many people have had great feedback, and I’d love to just let it out. But realistically, we’ve had some great feedback, and want to get as many “must have” suggestions into the first release. There’s some really, really big updates which will come out mid to late August; we would love to have them in for Aug 1, but doubt it will be possible.

Blake just showed a video from firefoxflicks. bunch of browser logos, ends in IE blowing up. It was amusing, but not everyone thought it was really appropriate. Immediately after, he started getting hammered (not unjustifiably) by Dave Winer. The discussion is going downhill; Blake is questioning Dave’s commentary on his Blog - I missed the reasons as to why, and Dave is arguing that Firefox should take the high road, and maintain integrity. Blake didn’t handle the question well. The discussion is lost. Chris Pirillo is clearly getting uncomfortable, and jumps in to “cut the tension.”
