There is one other SES NYC note I want to make today, one that every blogger should write about in the next week or so.

On the night before SES NY opens, Monday April 9, the Internet Marketers of New York are holding a special event in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities.

A $40 donation at the door will guarantee you a fun-filled night partying with some of the best-known names in search. To make the evening even more fun, Best of the Web and Text Links Ads are covering the costs of the 3-hour open bar.

The event will be held at the Town Tavern – 134 W3rd St. (w.3rd and 6th ave) and runs from 7PM to 10PM.

This time it’s official and set in stone tablets. The staff of Metamend and Enquisite are invited to hang out in the Metamend boardroom to talk about everyone’s favourite (yawn) subject: Link Building.

Ok. I know Link Building is not the most exciting task in a SEO’s life but it is one of the most essential. Links have had such heavy influence on search rankings over the years a set of best practices has been established to do the job properly. While somewhat boring to actually execute, talking about Link Building can actually be kind of exciting.

When you talk about building networks of links, you discuss the architecture of the Internet. That, in and of itself, is interesting. Links are also the fuel to success or the kiss of death at Google, Yahoo and other algorithmic search tools. Success or death, death or glory. Who couldn’t get a rise out of that? (actually, it’s our job to get a rise out of links, so to speak)
We are hoping to have a couple special guests call into the meeting to lend their voices and wisdom to the session.  Hope to see everyone there. The last session was fun and this one should be too.

Two weeks from now, several Metamend staffers, myself included, will be in New York City attending Search Engine Strategies NYC. Held in the Midtown Hilton, SES NYC is one of the largest search marketing conferences in the world. This year’s event is expected to be the largest SES ever. It is certainly going to be one of the most exciting search shows yet.
If you see me at the show, be sure to ask about Metamend and Enquisite but, be prepared… I can go on for hours about both companies and their services. (perhaps over drinks or something?)
