If you are a business owner selling a product, service or providing valuable information to the public, creating a website is definitely the best way to reach the greatest number of people. Putting a basic site together may not be a problem, in fact, you may even have a friend or relative that can put one together for you. They may even be able to fill it with interesting content about the products, services or information you are offering. The challenge of course is in getting the right traffic to your site; people who are serious about purchasing your product/service or finding the specific information they are searching for.
There is one common mistake that people make when their site fails to generate a lot of traffic or when the majority of visitors they do get simply move on. The one question they fail to ask is, “Who is looking at or reading my site before potential customers see it”? Prior to the public having access to your site, Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ask, etc. will be reading it first. Of course the way you and I read a website is very different from the way a search engine does.
