SEO Glossary of Terms: HTML

HTML: Hypertext Markup Language - language that uses tags (elements) to describe web documents for display in a client's web browser. HTTP is the primary way of displaying information on the web. Originally was designed for the purpose of publishing and receiving HTML documents.

HTML can format images and text for presentation to the Internet user. HTML can also be used to allow the user to submit information to the web server, and allow the web server to generate dynamic (user-driven) web documents.
