Search Engine Submission and XML Sitemap Generator
Search Engine Fusion - Overview
Want to make sure the search engines are up to speed on what pages are available on your site? Try our XML sitemap generator and search engine submission service. We refer to it fondly as 'Search Engine Fusion'!
Simply put, Search Engine Fusion regularly creates and submits updated versions of your XML sitemap to hundreds of search engines, keeping the search engines and your potential visitors up to date with respect to your site's content.
XML Google Sitemap Generation
Many search engines allow the submission of an XML sitemap file through a "Webmaster Tools" interface, which gives a website owner the ability to define a list of page URLs that are then followed by the search engine spiders during a crawl. Many SEO experts recommend that a Google sitemap file should be updated frequently to take into account of any new pages that are added to your site, such as new products, articles or blog posts. Keeping your XML sitemap file up to date ensures that the search engine spiders are always able to quickly and easily discover your latest content.

Types of Search Engine Submission
- Search Engine Submission: The Metamend SEO service keeps track of all the search engines, not just the 5 major ones. We look for any engine that has a reasonable market space, and which can accept straightforward submissions. We submit your site to these engines. In any given month we submit to approximately 500 engines. Not all of them will drive a lot of traffic to your web site. Most traffic will come from the few major players. That said, Google was mostly unknown before Yahoo! started using it. We want to ensure your web site is found by the major search engines of today AND tomorrow.
- XML Sitemap Generator: Let Metamend's Fusion service build a Google sitemap that can be submitted to Google to help them crawl your website more efficiently. In addition, the Fusion engine will create a text sitemap for submission to Yahoo or create a ROR sitemap, which is an independant XML format for any search engine. Of course, you can also generate an HTML sitemap to allow website visitors to easily navigate your website.

Search Engine Submission Mistakes and Spamming
Metamend's submission process is timed to optimally suit the search engines' needs. A common error that many web site operators make is to submit their website to the search engines individually and often on a daily basis via an SEO service or with free submission tools. This is understandable as everyone is anxious to see results quickly. However, over-submitting can be detrimental to your web site's search engine profile. Most search engines interpret over-submission as a form of spam.
If you are using a SEO service, this should include site submission to the search engines as part of the process. Once your web site is submitted, it is put into a queue. When its turn comes, the search engine sends a "spider", or "bot" to read and document your site.
The spider documents everything it can discern about your site, including essential ranking information such as the number of incoming and outgoing links. All the data that is found and extracted by the spider is processed by the indexer and stored in a database. From the database, the search software extracts documents based on parameters entered by the user.
